OPTOMIT is a project in the course of an education initiative for optical technologies in Middle Hesse. Supporting this project, OptoTech, in cooperation with the Siemens AG, the IHK and the county of Lahn-Dill, provided the optical laboratory of the Werner-von-Siemens-School in Wetzlar with an asphere generator ASM 100 CNC TC-D. In this optical laboratory the practical education of future  fine opticians, industrial mechanics and other technical apprenticeships, as well as advanced trainings for skilled workers and technicans takes place. Furthermore the laboratory is available for the participating universities and other OPTOMIT-Partners, plus other interested companies. The machine is in use since the 27th of july 2008.

Studium PLUS is a by now unique institution in Germany that combines theory (study) and practice (job). In dual  study courses the Technical University of Middle Hesse, in cooperation with local companies, offers a complete study with bachelor- and master degrees PLUS work experience. Due to this, the students are employees in a company while they are studying. OptoTech, as one of the incorporators, offers Studium PLUS for the study courses mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

Since its foundation in 1985, the OptoTech GmbH is strongly connected to the Lahn-Dill region. For us, it was obvious to actively support this initiative of the IHK Lahn-Dill. The IHK made some really interesting videos regarding economy, leisure time, centrality and education in our region. On the 26th of may 2010, 16 local companies merged together to the so called "Industrial Network Wetzlar" that should strengthen the image of Wetzlar as the "city of optics" as well as the cooperation of companies of the optical, electrical and mechanical industry. Beside the publication of a 3 times a year appearing business magazine, the participating companies developed a corporate marketing strategy, a corporate internet presence and will arrange several events like scientific congresses with speeches of specialists in Wetzlar. From day one, Roland Mandler, the CEO of the OptoTech GmbH, is a member of the board of the Industrial Network Wetzlar.

Having a production site in Jena, OptoTech also shows its commitment to the Thuringian region by a membership in the OptoNet. The Competence Network for Optical Technologies represents the interests of currently 92 companies, research and educational organizations, investment companies as well as public institutions with the goal to strengthen and advance the development of optical technologies on the cite of Thuringia.

Being a traditional optics region, Thuringia today is one of the most successful »Optics Valleys« in Europe. OptoNet is involved in the area of apprenticeship and advanced training, research, technology management, start-up politics, marketing and furthers the networking of members and partners in these tasks. The network for example provides the promotion of an adjusted to the needs training and further education due to the creation of new apprenticeships and study courses as well as the development of partnerships of industrial enterprises and research facilities.

Optence is a network for cooperation and knowledge transfer for optical technologies in the regions of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. The goal of the network is to create regional synergetic effect between the over 400 network partners, coming from the industrial sector, science, research and apprenticeship, and to shorten the time from creating innovative ideas to the final product.

Moreover, Optence offers consulting, workshops, tutorials, project management and marketing, or provides useful information like market research, market investigation, patent- and information research, feasibility studies and technical reports to the network partners.

The registered association "CentralHesse" was established in the year 2003 to further the cooperation among the region's business, science and political sectors. The association aspires to promote the region's profile by way of specially developed projects aimed at the fields of education, infrastructure and innovation. By now, 90 cities, county districts, chambers, universities and corperations have joined the association.

To achieve its goals, the association actively supports and promotes the further development and constant improvement of the region's overall infrastructures, which include the promotion of regional infrastructure plans, the development of business, education, science and culture and the promotion of the trade show and tourism sectors. Organising and providing sponsorships and subsidies for regional projects, co-financed by national and international programmes, and the implementation of regional marketing measures complete the association's spectrum of activities.
